Description
Up for sale is my rather special Jackson Kelly Standard Professional which was made in the famous Chushin Gakki Factory in Japan which at the time made some of the best guitars anywhere in the world.
It was made in an era when the made in Japan Jackson?s gave they?re USA counterparts a run for they?re money and in many cases and for many people, surpassed them in build quality.
As such, the Jackson Professional range from the early noughties are very highly regarded and amongst them, the Kelly is one of the harder to find models.
It was made famous by former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman who used one exclusively in his early years with the band and who?s image, shredding with the Kelly onstage is legendary amongst metal fans.
It was Jackson?s interpretation of the Explorer with several tweaks to the shape and specs to make it more metal orientated.
It features a distinctively sculpted poplar body which has a nice medium weight to it and due to the size, shape and choice of wood, it has great acoustic resonance and sustain.
A bolt-on maple neck with 24 fret rosewood fingerboard with 25.5? scale length.
A Takeuchi JT-580 Trem.
Black hardware.
One volume knob which has been coil-tapped via push/pull to give even more tonal possibilities and a three way switch.
The pickups have been upgraded with a GFS bridge Humbucker and uniquely for this type of guitar, a GFS P90 neck pickup, once again adding to the palette of sounds available.
My guitar has some natural relicing and Road wear consistent with age and being played. One of the points of the body has a chip on it. There?s buckle rash on the back of the body and there?s marks here and there. These are only cosmetic blemishes and don?t detract from the quality and playability of this wonderful looking and performing metal machine!
Most importantly, the neck and fingerboard are in great shape with little fret wear and no significant marks on the back of the neck which is slim and lightening fast to play.
The trem arm is included but just not in the photos.
Instead of buying an Indonesian made guitar for ?700 and more, get a rare, true Made in Japan classic which oozes quality, for a lot less. With the sonic upgrades it?s capable of so much more than just metal tones also, although I can?t see someone playing it in a jazz trio, but you never know!
Thanks for looking.
