Description
Vintage Valve WEM Custom Copicat Watkins Echo Unit serial number 60 06219 - in very good condition. Vintage ca. 1966 I but it could be older. I cannot find serial numbers to precisely identify its age.
I have had this beauty since 1982 and used it relentlessly for about 25 years before I had to have it fully restored in the mid 2000s as it had become very noisy. Full valve replacement and amp connector lead was replaced. The lead is grey in the picture rather than the original black. Post restoration, I used it for a handful of gigs but in recent years, I have not really used it for gigging. Thus it is in very good restored condition.
This is by far the best Valve WEM Copicat unit before transistor versions began to appear in about late 1966, in my opinion. The unit is complete with power cord and original WEM footswitch and can be run on either 220V or 240V. The unit has not been tested recently but all functions work.
The push button echo-sounds Halo Echo & Repeat are wonderful if a little noisy compared to digital age pedals. But that has to be part of the attraction. The black carrying box is chipped in places, still with plastic carrying-handle intact. The retaining metal cover clips are loose but function well enough. It has been a reliable workhorse & never let me down.
Reluctantly, I am now at an age when I need to sell some of my vintage gear. I only hope it goes to a loving home! Buyer collects.
